SRHR
YWCA promotes sexual and reproductive health education among Adolescents Girls and Young Women (AGWY) and their parents. YWCA uses the Power to Change model, agaciro kanjye (my dignity) and Grow Up Smart model (this was developed in partnership with Ministry of Health and Institute for Reproductive Health) to train peer educators, mentors, safe space leaders and teachers to ensure ongoing support to integrate and spread reproductive health education in both school based clubs and community-based safe spaces. HIV testing and counseling, GBV prevention and response, Risk Assessment and referral and linkages for Adolescent girls and young women are also catered for. YWCA also empowers the parents on SRHR. The application of the Family matters program engages parents through sessions that focus on parent-child communication improvement and SRHR.
